Tutorials on 12 Active Learning and Competency-Based Assessment Techniques

Seward Incorporated, through the Middle East Partnership Initiative (funded by the U.S. State Department and implemented by Creative Associate International, Inc.), was subcontracted to design and develop an online teacher training program in partnership with the Oman Ministry of Education.

The online training provides a consistent, readily available means of accessing tutorials on 12 Active Learning and Competency-Based Assessment techniques to be applied in the classroom. The online training and supporting print materials are intended for use by Oman 11 th grade English, math, and science teachers and their supervisors.

Features of the Training

  • Twelve tutorials cover the use of active learning techniques; completion is required prior to accessing modules
  • Modules cover a three-week unit of instruction in the 11th-grade curriculum, including overview and details of da ily activities, rationale for using the active learning strategy shown, links providing additional information, and short videos of teachers and students using the active learning techniques.
