Yap Teacher Training
In-Service Teacher Training – Instructional DesignIn recent years, Yap has made significant investments in their technology infrastructure, including the installation of computer labs in schools and an island-wide wireless network. Recognizing that these changes could and should alter teaching and learning practices, the Yap Education Enterprising Department (SEED) decided to provide teacher professional development in the areas of instructional design and technology-based learning. Seward Incorporated provided a pair of trainers who delivered an intensive one week training program in a high tech classroom. The training addressed such fundamentals of instructional design as curriculum planning, course design, lesson structure, learner motivation and assessment. ParticipantsTeachers from all levels of Yap’s school system, and from schools on both the main and outer islands, participated in the week-long training program. In addition, personnel from Yap’s central administration and IT offices took part in the training. Features
