Palauan Cultural Profile

Cross-platform CD-ROM

The Palauan Cultural Profile is a cross-platform CD-ROM containing curriculum materials that support content taught in the Palauan Cultural Profile (PCP) Curriculum. Students and adults use the CD-ROM to enhance their learning about Palauan culture and traditions. The CD-ROM features videos, maps, photographs, graphics and text.

Users

In creating this CD-ROM, the goal was to provide students and adults with information supporting the curriculum about the geography, history, and culture of Palau, and provide a stable archive of cultural information. The following specific issues were addressed:

  • Immediate need for students in each grade to understand the appropriate content
  • Concern for the welfare and success of students who must blend the traditional and modern culture and roles
  • Desire to be more comfortable working with intergenerational issues
  • Desire to preserve and archive Palauan cultural information

 

Features

The cross platform CD-ROM incorporates student-prepared materials from the Palauan Cultural Profile curriculum. The design features a common graphical treatment and menu structure from which each grade can be easily accessed and all lessons can be launched. The program uses interactive multimedia (video, graphics, animation, and text) to engage the learner in the instructional process.
