Fiji Education Standards
World Health Organization Curriculum, Course, and Lesson Design StandardsThe World Health Organization (WHO) in Fiji engaged Seward International to create a Standards Document for Online Course Development. This document supported the WHO's development of online nursing education courses and established guidelines for practices and procedures related to curriculum, course, and lesson design. The Standards Document for Online Development, which addressed issues such as identification of courses for development, course structure, and lesson components, facilitates the work of faculty, subject matter experts, and developers as they work to design new courses for the online nursing education curriculum. Use of the document increases the quality of offerings by ensuring consistency, completeness, and accuracy. Application of the proposed standards should in turn result in courses that are easier to develop, maintain, teach, and learn from. As a result of the Standards Document, new courses are consistent with the standards of a one-credit college course, instructor-led, textbook and lab independent, based on WHO standards, written for learners in the Pacific, and offered over a six-week period.
