Malawi Teacher Professional Development Support Project

Overview

Malawi Teacher Professional Development Support (MTPDS): 

  • Is a three-year project to assist the Malawi Ministry of Education, Science and Technology (MoEST) with teacher education support and systems management.
  • Provides continuous professional development nationally for teachers and school leaders.
  • Emphasizes addressing gaps in the new primary curriculum. 

 

Training Highlights

Seward International leads the teacher training and continuous professional development effort. The continuous professional development training: 

  • Improves teacher ability to teach early grade literacy, numeracy, and life skills.
  • Trains more than 31,000 teachers.
  • Prepares school leaders on school-based continuous professional development, instructional leadership, and school management.
  • Trains 10,800 school leaders each year.
  • Conducts more than 7,000 training activities each school year.
